According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A linear spacer for creating a uniform spacing between a first tile unit and a second tile unit disposed on a foundation surface includes a body, one or more first through-holes extending through the body portion in a first direction substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis, and one or more second through-holes extending through the body portion in a second direction different than the first direction and orthogonal to the longitudinal axis.
