"Repeating firearm" was invented by Heinz-Eckhard Engel (Battenberg/Eder, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a repeating firearm, in particular a repeating rifle, which is configured as a straight-pull bolt action rifle, comprising a forestock and a bolt handle. The repeating firearm is selectively operable either with the forestock or with the bolt handle."

The patent was filed on April 10, 2024, under Application No. 18/631,552.
