According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Proposed is a belt holder for a tape measure including a holder body, a clip holding part, a locking bracket, a bracket spring, a push button with a one-way rotation inducing groove, a push button spring, and a position maintenance pin, wherein due to an operation of the push button and the elastic force of the push button spring, a locking jaw of the locking bracket can be easily switched between locked and unlocked states as the push button is pushed in and out."
