"Firearm trigger chock" was invented by Johnathan M. Rinehart (Lima, Ohio).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A firearm trigger chock that may include a chock portion and a forward extending plate having an aperture. The chock portion is configured to prevent depression of the trigger. The chock portion has an interior side and an exterior side, and a trigger-engaging surface that substantially corresponds with the dimension and curvature of the rear of a trigger. In a version, the aperture extends through the plate and forward of the trigger."
