"Delphinium plant named 'Violets are Blue'" was invented by Katrina Hindmarsh (Palmerston North, New Zealand).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct Delphinium plant named 'Violets are Blue' of large semi-double flowers with purple petals that have a ruffled bluish edge and a purple and white center bee on heavily-branched, strong, upright stems that withstand wind and rain without staking. The new plant has a compact and sturdy plant habit and excellent garden performance, and is useful for landscaping, as a specimen or en masse, and as a cut flower."
