ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,243,657, issued on March 4.

"Emergency heat removal in a light water nuclear reactor by using a passive endothermic reaction cooling system" was invented by Matthew J. Memmott (Provo, Utah) and Joel Riding Johnson (Cranberry Township, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "System for emergency cooling of a nuclear reactor. The system uses passive convection cooling and endothermic reactant cooling."

The patent was filed on Dec. 6, 2021, under Application No. 17/543,335.
