ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,261,232, issued on March 25.
"Ultraviolet sensors and methods using integrated silicon carbide lateral junction field-effect transistors" was invented by James A. Holmes (Fayetteville, Ark.), Anthony M. Francis (Elkins, Ark.), Matthew W. Barlow (Springdale, Ark.), Nicholas J. Chiolino (Springdale, Ark.) and Sonia M. Perez (Farmington, Ark.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An ultraviolet detecting silicon carbide junction field effect transistor with a transistor gate junction positioned proximate to the outer surface to receive ultraviolet: light and flow an ultraviolet light induced photo current when reverse biased."
