According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sound suppressor for enhanced user serviceability is provided. The sound suppressor uses high temperature elastomer O-rings to maintain the alignment of the parts in assembly, to prevent loosening of the end caps, and most notably, to seal the suppressor baffles and end caps, so that carbon does not interact with the outer tube around the baffles, or the threads or connective geometry of the outer tube.
