"Track system for lighting" was invented by Hamid Rashidi Doust (Beverly Hills, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided is a track system to support light fixtures comprising: a track having a length of less than 100 feet; an electrical conductor running along the track; two ends, each end placed at one end of the track, and configured to be attached to a support to suspend the track; wherein the track is configured for attachment of light fixtures and delivery of electricity to the light fixture though a connection with the electrical conductor."
