"Systems and methods of probabilistic constellation shaping" was invented by Timo Pfau (Somerville, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In part, the disclosure relates to a constellation shaping system that includes a plurality of encoders, wherein one or more of the plurality of encoders is associated with a priority level according to a configuration, wherein a pulse is allocated to a time slot, using an encoder based on priority level of the encoder."
