ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,320,009, issued on June 3.

"Thermal spraying of ceramic materials" was invented by Nuria Espallargas (Trondheim, Norway) and Fahmi Mubarok (Trondheim, Norway).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A process for thermally spraying metal oxide coated ceramic particles onto a substrate comprising: (i) obtaining a plurality of metal oxide coated particles of silicon carbide, silicon nitride, boron carbide or boron nitride; and (ii) thermally spraying the particles of step (I) onto a substrate."

The patent was filed on Nov. 1, 2013, under Application No. 14/438,933.
