"System and method for providing a redacted reply service" was invented by Zafar Khan (Redondo Beach, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and system for generating recommendations to a user based on content in the headers and body of an electronic message and transforming the email accordingly, and also providing a redacted reply service to ensure that a user hitting "reply all" cannot inadvertently unmask the identify of bcc (blind carbon copy) recipients of the original electronic message."
