According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A jewelry device constructed of facially opposing plate members for capturing and displaying information or images on the surface of the plate members, when the device is in a closed viewing position or when manipulated to be in an open viewing position, and containing expandable surfaces, integral to the construction of the device, and generated without the use of parts external to device's construction."
