According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments relate to an enhanced method for installing vegetation on sloped roofs or walls by incorporating waterproofing and support for vegetation in the same shingle avoiding the need for a separate waterproofing membrane.
