ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,324,468, issued on June 10.

"Expandable headband" was invented by Yvette C. Vigil (Cedar Hill, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An expandable headband includes a hollow annular shell constructed with an expandable but resilient fabric or similar material. The shell encapsulates an expansion mechanism that allows a user to extend a front portion of the shell to form a visor. Accordingly, the annular shell is secured around the head similarly to a conventional headband. To form a sun visor, the wearer grasps and pulls the front portion of the shell to create a cap bill that extends beyond the forehead."
