"Smart urine collection and volumetric measurement apparatus" was invented by Mohammad Mazen Jamal (Irvine, Calif.) and Roula Jamal (Irvine, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and a device are disclosed including a urine collection device with sensors for determining the volume of the urine collected. A controller determines urine volume based on the height of sensors that show urine proximate to them within the device. A display indicates to the user whether the collected urine is sufficient for the required sample."
