According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system and method for improving the capture-rate and efficacy of a pool skimming infrastructure is disclosed, having a basket, a floating skimmer contained therein, and a rim. The floating skimmer has two or more louvres located on an exterior thereof. The louvres on the floating skimmer correspond with a plurality of slots within the basket.
