ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,371,751, issued on July 29.
"Paper-based colorimetric COVID-19/SARS-COV-2 test" was invented by Bradley C. Bundy (Provo, Utah) and J. Porter Hunt (Provo, Utah).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are biosensors, which may be made from cell lysates, purified enzymes, or a combination thereof, for testing for the presence of a pathogen, such as SARS-CoV-2. The biosensor may be used in the context of a paper-based test, such as a colorimetric COVID-19 test. Methods of using the biosensor are also disclosed."
The patent was filed on May 13, 2021, under Application No. 17/319,845.
