"Electrolytic synthesis of copper(I) chloride and copper(II) chloride" was invented by Mark Tsybulski (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Copper(I) chloride and Copper(II) chloride are commonly used industrial chemicals. A new process of synthesizing CuCl, with CuCl2 as a byproduct, is disclosed. This process emits significantly less greenhouse gasses than existing methods and does not require fossil fuels.
