ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. PP36,848, issued on July 22.

"Prunus plant named 'Frerichs 01'" was invented by Ocko Martens (Westerstede/Hoheliet, Germany) and Pascal Frerichs (Westerstede/Hoheliet, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new cultivar of Prunus laurocerasus plant named 'Frerichs 01' that is characterized by its vigorous growth habit, its narrowly upright plant habit, its dense branching, and its young foliage that is intense bronze to orange in color."

The patent was filed on Feb. 8, 2025, under Application No. 19/048,852.
