ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. PP36,855, issued on July 22.

"Aspidistra plant named 'HANADO RAKU NO 1'" was invented by Shiro Miyawaki (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct Aspidistra cultivar named 'HANADO RAKU NO 1' is disclosed, characterized by dark green foliage with abundant stable and distinctive creamy white spots. The new cultivar is an Aspidistra, suitable for indoor ornamental and tropical garden purposes."

The patent was filed on Nov. 14, 2023, under Application No. 18/389,276.
