ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,342,803, issued on July 1.

"Breakaway crab snare apparatus" was invented by Alan E Jong (Sacramento, Calif.) and Terrence R Wong (Sacramento, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A crab snare apparatus that is adapted to breakaway cleanly from the crab's grip without disturbing the crab's position over the snare loops, thereby making the snaring of crabs more certain."

The patent was filed on July 8, 2024, under Application No. 18/765,568.
