"Pole protector" was invented by Sean Dunham (Lake Elmo, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present application is directed to a protective cover for a utility pole comprising: a first protective portion; and a second protective portion; wherein the first and second protective portions are each substantially hemispherical and combine to surround and protect a pole at the ground interface."

The patent was filed on June 13, 2022, under Application No. 17/839,126.
