"Transparent medical facemask composite and facemasks formed thereby" was invented by Randolph Julian Loew (Odenton, Md.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A facemask includes a transparent, clear film, about 0.5 to 3 mils in thickness which is breathable and having micro-perforations therein; an anti-biological coating on at least one side of the transparent, clear film; and at least one fabric layer coupled via an adhesive layer to the clear film. The facemasks provides a transparent mask for the user that will minimize adverse skin reactions of the wearer due to the use of the fabric layer adjacent the skin."
