ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,540,857, issued on Feb. 3.
"Ultraviolet sensing assembly" was invented by Angel Gonzalez Lizardo (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Felix A. Cuadrado (Washington), Steven L. Velez Sonera (Port Hueneme, Calif.) and Ernesto Ulloa Davila (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A device that uses a UV sensing element capable of converting photons from a high temperature thermal source, to an electrical current. Such current is then compared with the theoretical current to be obtained from a source with the dimensions of the actual source. The theoretical current is obtained by integrating."
