According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A tamper-evident container includes a tape (46). The tape is designed to break apart when the lid is opened for the first time. In some embodiments, a cap and lid are clear and see-through which allows a customer to see if the tape is torn apart and know whether the product has been tampered with.
