ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,540,107, issued on Feb. 3.

"Selective photocatalytic reduction of alkynes to alkenes" was invented by Francesca Arcudi (Evanston, Ill.), Luka Dordevic (Evanston, Ill.), Emily A. Weiss (Evanston, Ill.) and Samuel I. Stupp (Evanston, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for the selective photocatalytic reduction of an alkyne compound to an alkene compound (e.g., acetylene to ethylene)."

The patent was filed on April 28, 2022, under Application No. 18/556,949.
