"Pipe adapter for ladder placement" was invented by Timothy Porter (New Windsor, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pipe standing adapter is a device designed for placement on a round pipe to create a flat surface. An interrupting flange, offset from a center and extending parallel to a length of a pipe (between locations about semi-circular openings for a pipe) is on the otherwise flat surface designed for a base of a ladder to be abutted there-against.
