"Ion-substituted bovine hydroxyapatite for bone regeneration" was invented by S. N. George P. J. Dias (Dunedin, New Zealand), Jithendra Ratnayake (Dunedin, New Zealand) and Ramesh Niranjan (Dunedin, New Zealand).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates an ion substituted bovine-derived hydroxyapatite (ion substituted BHA) with at least one type of ion selected from F, Si, Cl, carbonate, citrate, Na, K, Ag, Mn, Zn, Zr, Cu, Co, Fe, Au, B, Ba, Al, Bi, Mg or Sr, or combinations thereof.
