ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,545,444, issued on Feb. 10.
"Rotary wing vehicle" was invented by Paul E. Arlton (West Lafayette, Ind.) and David J. Arlton (Lafayette, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A rotary wing vehicle includes a body structure having an elongated tubular backbone or core, and a counter-rotating coaxial rotor system having rotors with each rotor having a separate motor to drive the rotors about a common rotor axis of rotation. The rotor system is used to move the rotary wing vehicle in directional flight."
The patent was filed on March 28, 2023, under Application No. 18/127,346.
