"Pool float tether device" was invented by Michael Corris (Leesburg, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There is provided herein a pool float tether device. The device can have two identical rectangular straps each having a longitudinal length, two opposing strap surfaces and two opposing longitudinal strap ends. Each strap can have two hook or loop fastener portions, one on each strap surface and which are at opposing strap ends.
