ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,490,689, issued on Dec. 9.
"Fire containment plate for burning tree stumps" was invented by William B. Staggs Jr. (Nashville, Tenn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Fire containment plates and methods of using same are described. The fire containment plates may be metallic (made of metal) and may include a plurality of air holes, as well as a plurality of fasteners that enable the containment plate to attach to itself and form a ring around a tree stump."
The patent was filed on May 21, 2025, under Application No. 19/214,170.
