ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,492,398, issued on Dec. 9.
"Compositions for the multiplexed detection of viruses" was invented by Zunyi Yang (Gainesville, Fla.) and Steven A Benner (Gainesville, Fla.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This specification discloses compositions of matter and processes that allow the detection of RNA from coronaviruses and other RNA viruses, in particular, compositions and processes that have the capacity to detect in multiplexed form many RNA targets within individual viruses, targets from multiple viruses, and other RNA molecules that can be used as positive controls."
