ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,490,730, issued on Dec. 9.
"Adjustable strike fishing tip up" was invented by Randall Thomson (Verona, Wis.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An ice rigger style tip up that can quickly and easily be modified to adjust the amount of force needed by a fish striking the bait to cause activation of a visual indicator. This activation strike force is adjustable by gravitational or magnetic forces. The visual indicator may be a flag released from a horizontal position to a vertical position when the activation force is exceeded."
The patent was filed on Feb. 4, 2025, under Application No. 19/044,929.
