According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An improved wireline head and related methods are disclosed. The wireline head can incorporate a release device that allows for a clean cable release while maintaining the portions of the wireline head that were used to retain the cable. For example, the wireline head can include an outer cone and an inner cone configured to trap a portion of a cable, such as armor cabling, between the inner cone and the outer cone.
