"Safety net" was invented by Craig Gaspard (Prairieville, La.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Safety net devices described herein may include a microphone array, a net launcher, a rotation control device, a fireable electroshock weapon, and a camera. The safety net device may be set up to automatically reorient and fire a net in the direction of a high decibel event upon detection of that high decibel event. The fireable electroshock weapon and the camera may be remotely controlled by an operator as part of a response to the high decibel event."
