"Pallet system" was invented by Frank Joseph Tortorella Jr. (Park Ridge, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some examples, a pallet connector includes a body defining a first connector on a first side of the body and one or more lateral structures extending from a second side of the body, wherein the one or more lateral structures are to prevent movement of the body relative to a structure on which the body is disposed, and wherein the first connector comprises a male connector, a female connector, or both a male connector and a female connector."
