According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An improved clamping mechanism that enables rapid and secure attachment to a wide variety of objects and includes an adjustable cuff that incorporates a ratchet mechanism to adjustably and quickly surround and securely contact elongated cylindrical members of various diameters. An additional set screw is incorporated to further tighten a portion of the cuff against a surface of the clamped cylindrical members.
