"Bungee belt" was invented by Leamon Moore (Tuscaloosa, Ala.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Truckers use bungee cords or tarp straps to secure tarps, canvases, and loads on the backs of flatbed trucks and trailers. In some cases, it may take dozens of bungee cords to secure a tarp over the load on a standard flatbed trailer. A bungee belt makes it faster and easier for a trucker to secure a tarp over a load on a flatbed trailer. A bungee belt has belt loops with openings for holding 30 or more bungee cords, allowing the trucker to carry all of the bungee cords for securing a tarp while leaving his or her hands...
