According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Gate hinges include an anchor shaft defining a shaft axis that extends between a first end and a second end. A first support arm is arranged at a position closer to the first end than the second end and extends in a direction normal to the shaft axis from the anchor shaft and a second support arm is arranged at the same axial position as the first support arm along the anchor shaft and extends in a direction opposite the first support arm.
