According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a channel hanger that is generally made up of a U-shaped hook that extends from an upper half of a channel member, the channel member configured to conform to the top of a rafter. The channel hanger further includes a center channel member having a first and second leg extending from either side of the center channel member.
