ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,269,570, issued on April 8.
"Navigating aircraft in a jetstream" was invented by James C. Wang (Las Vegas), Jane Wojcik (Brookline, Mass.), Michael Wojcik (Brookline, Mass.) and Y. S. Hsu (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An altitude movement device comprising of a ballonet within an outer envelope with the ballonet configured to control buoyancy and an apparent wind generating device combined with the altitude movement device to generate an apparent wind to propel the vehicle laterally with respect to the direction of the jet stream."
The patent was filed on Nov. 12, 2024, under Application No. 18/945,071.
