ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,268,916, issued on April 8.
"Dumbbell" was invented by Michael Rudan (Toronto) and Lee Kline (Toronto).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An improved dumbbell free weight is discussed, which includes one or more base weights, the dumbbell further having a pair of second, upper weights positioned above where the upper weights are suspended by upper braces extending from a handle attached to the one or more base weights."
The patent was filed on Jan. 29, 2021, under Application No. 17/162,092.
