ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,285,086, issued on April 29.

"Necklace shortener" was invented by Daria Walsh (Doylestown, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A jewelry shortener for temporarily shortening a jewelry chain comprises a clasp with a cushion element that traps both sides of the chain at a desired length when the clasped is dosed. The clasp may or may not have an ornamental element that is visible when worn."

The patent was filed on March 17, 2022, under Application No. 17/697,060.
