"Digital checks" was invented by Anthony Zamora (Metro Manila, Philippines) and Eliodoro Batingana (Cupertino, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A digital checking system retrieves a first non-fungible token of a digital check from a distributed ledger implemented by a blockchain. The first token includes (i) a set of parameters of the digital check and (ii) a first service data describing a first transaction performed on the digital check.
