ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,921, issued on April 22.
"Hinged closure" was invented by Sanjeev Khattar (Brampton, Canada) and Stephane Graux (Liergues, France).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Hinged closures for containers are provided. The hinged closures allow for a closure that can be held in the open position with a large opening angle. The hinged closures include a lid portion and a skirt portion interconnected by a hinge portion. The hinge portion can be formed from two connecting columns and a central tongue, or two tongues and a central connecting column."
The patent was filed on Aug. 20, 2020, under Application No. 16/998,315.
