"Adjustable support pad" was invented by Osvaldo Reyes (Atwater, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A support pad having a body and an attachment mechanism is described herein. The support pad may be made of a non-slip vinyl and adapted for use with weightlifting structures. The attachment mechanism may be a pair of straps that are threaded through a series of loops on each end of the support pad, each strap having an adjustable buckle to allow the strap to be loosened and tightened.
