WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 -- Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has issued a rule called: Pipeline Safety: Standards Update-API Spec 6D.
The rule was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 2 by Benjamin D. Kochman, Deputy Administrator.
Summary: PHMSA is confirming the effective date for the DFR that appeared in the Federal Registeron July 1, 2025. The DFR amended PHMSA's regulations at 49 CFR parts 192 and 195 to incorporate by reference the updated industry standard American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification 6D, "Specification for Valves."
