Today, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Rotorcraft Operations Transparency and Oversight Reform (ROTOR) Act, bipartisan aviation safety legislation introduced by U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) - chairman of the Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation, Space, and Innovation - and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) following the midair collision between an American Airlines flight and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter that claimed 67 lives on January 29th near Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA). The ROTOR Act would strengthen aviation safety standards impacted by a provision in the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act.
