OFFICE OF FEDERAL PROCUREMENT POLICY ISSUES PROPOSED RULE: FEDERAL ACQUISITION REGULATION: ENDING PROCUREMENT AND FORCED USE OF PAPER STRAWS

WASHINGTON, July 21 -- Office of Federal Procurement Policy has issued a proposed rule called: Federal Acquisition Regulation: Ending Procurement and Forced Use of Paper Straws.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on July 21 by William F. Clark, Director, Office of Government-wide Acquisition Policy, Office of Acquisition Policy, Office of Government-wide Policy.

Summary: OFPP, DoD, GSA, and NASA, collectively referred to as the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council (FAR Council), are proposing to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to ensure agencies procure straws with the strength and durability of plastic in accordance with the National Strategy to End the Use of Paper Straws.
